VG + Litho Map of the Battle of El Molino del Rey, one of the bloodiest engagements of the Mexican-American War. The battle occurred on the outskirts of Mexico City in September of 1847, and was fought between Mexican forces led by General Antonio Leoacute and American forces led by Major General Winfield Scott. Though the conflict resulted in an American victory, the Mexicans were nevertheless able to hold out long enough to prevent the capture of the city a week later. Includes a legend explaining the locations of and movements of various parties within the course of the battle
